ONE EGG IS ENOUGH EDITORIAL
SIMON NJOO

My aim is to bring high quality editorial to all projects I am invited to collaborate on, & to ensure that the best of my work is always centred on accompanying the director in the realisation of their vision.

I began my film editing career in France in 1995. I spent 12 years learning my craft as an assistant to some of France's most distinguished editors, working on independent films d'auteur, studio films, documentaries & feature trailers. During my time there, I collaborated on films such as Pierre Salvadori's Après Vous &
…Comme Elle Respire (White Lies), Michel Blanc's Mauvaise Passe (The Escort) & John Malkovich's The Dancer Upstairs.

I returned to Australia in 2005 to continue cutting at prestigious edit houses Guillotine & Method Studios in Sydney.

At the start of 2014, wanting to create a working environment where the art & craft of editing was repositioned at the centre of my practice, I opened my own independent shop, One Egg Is Enough Editorial.

Credited feature titles include Jennifer Kent's cult psychological thriller The Babadook (AACTA Nomination Best Editing, Winner Best Film AACTA 2015, Best Editing Film Critic’s Circle of Australia 2015); Venice Film Festival Special Jury Prize winning The Nightingale (AACTA Nomination Best Editing 2018); Selina Miles’ documentary Martha: A Picture Story which world premiered at the 2019 TriBeCa Film Festival & won the Sydney Film Festival Audience Prize 2019, NYC; Jennifer Peedom’s River (AACTA Nomination Best Editing, Winner Best Documentary Film AACTA 2022), a collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra which premiered at the Sydney Film Festival 2021; Justin McMillan’s Sweet River; Stephen Page’s groundbreaking Spear (Winner APSA Special Mention UNESCO Award) & Fin Edquist’s domestic thriller Bad Girl.

Most recently I completed Thomas M. Wright’s much anticipated second feature The Stranger, which was selected for competition in Un Certain Regard at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival (AACTA Nomination Best Editing 2022) in addition to Selina Miles' sophomore feature documentary Harley & Katya, winner of the 2023 International Emmy for Best Sports Documentary. Both films are nominated for Best Editing in their respective categories at the 2023 Australian Screen Editor Awards, The Ellies.

I continue to edit feature films & creative advertising.
